From the pictures I've seen from this era (1956-1958), both Ouellette and Boa were shooting standard 52C rifles which used a magazine or a single shot adapter. The first single shot 52 (the 52D) was introduced a few years later, in 1961.

: I am interested in the Winchester 52 was it modified to single shot.I know there SS Adaptors but looking at Gil Boa's & Gerald Ouellette's rifles used in 1956 Melbourne games they looked like SS actions.At that time were the receivers welded and made for single shot.? I can't see using a magazine rifle for high profile shooting.
