Hopefully you are asking about "transporting", not actual "storage". You cannot "store" any firearms in your vehicle.
For transporting:
Long gun: Must have a trigger lock, in a case of some sort & out of sight. That means in your trunk, or behind the seat of your pick-up, or covered up in the back of your SUV. Unloaded.
For restricted: Must have a trigger lock, be in a SECURE, locked case, then out of sight - ie. in your trunk, behind seat of p/u, covered or disguised in back of SUV. Unloaded!
If you are travelling to another club, with invitation in hand, & staying at a hotel or someone's house, that place becomes your temporary home & you must take the guns inside, again making sure they are not easily visible. If you're in an RV, the same applies. Do not leave them in your vehicle.
Especially with restricted, you must travel in a direct route from your home to the range you're going to, & the ammunition can be in the locked case with the firearm (as opposed to at home where it must be stored separately)
Not sure where Karl is from, but don't follow his ideas.
