I live in Alaska and will be driving south to Montana in a few weeks. I will be shipping my firearms by a private carrier, but I would like to take some of my ammo with me in order to lower my costs. I heard at one time that hollow point pistol ammo was prohibited. I am concerned about my loaded Star 185 hollow point SWC .45 ammo, is it now legal to take into Canada? Can someone point me to the regulations?
I plan to take 2500 rds of .22 RF, 600 rds of .38 WC and 600 rds of the Star 185 .45 LSWC HP. I contacted the CA border people and they pointed me to a web site all about explosive regulations, with no mention of ammo, so I'm still not sure what I can and cannot bring with me.
Thanks for your help,
