Wow, 30.06 is a stiff first rifle to try to learn from. You do not have enough information for anyone to comment. Such as where were you shooting and was it a safe place to discharge the firearm, with a sufficient backstop( a bullet from a 30.06 will travel 8 kilometres)

next how big was the target
what was your shooting position(standing, Kneeling,prone, off a bench)?
do you flinch??
is the scope on tight?
Bore sighting will only get you close if shooting from a bench, it takes a lot ( hundreds to thousands of rounds of practice to be proficient from any other position)

read some books and articles about external ballistics, and proper sighting and shooting

first move your sighting target closer - 25 yards - with a large target, shooting from a SOLID bench rest. if you are not on paper here get the scope bore sighted again.

get a .22 rim fire its easier and less expensive, to learn on.
