Or... do 1. and 2. above then close one eye if you are looking through the hole at the object, that is the dominant eye. If you are seeing a piece of paper with a hole in it, then that is the non dominant eye. I find I can force eye dominance so that any test that requires me to bring something back to my nose turns out 50/50 left to right.
