Hi Everyone, I am relatively new to competitive pistol shooting and have been trying to work out a method of converting group size and score into a usable improvement formula. Anyway here's the formula so far!!!

Vertical group height or horizontal group width (which ever is lower) divided by vertical group height or horizontal group width (which ever is higher) this will ensure the result is lower than one. Times this by 100. Then divide by pistol score.

therefore,

20mm divided by 25mm = 0.8, times by 100 = 80

80 divided by pistol score of 87 = 0.919.

It sounds complicated but it is very straight forward once you have done it a few times.

The closer to 1.0 the better the group and score. You can work out the rest I'm sure. Its really a benchmark comparison. Anybody fancy trying this method out to see if it is of use? Does anyone use something like this already?
