Please note that Patrick's reply is incorrect (a first??!) Patrick is referring to the .22Long Rifle cartridge, which is the most popular round in the world. The .22Long uses the same casing, but has a 29 grain bullet, which is far below the ISSF (and NRA) 40 grain requirement.
