Responsible Gun Ownership is not the source of this problem. It is the LAW itself. Do you still remember the case of a boy killed in a crossfire last year (Jane & Finch neighborhood)? There was an operation related to this case that led to the arrest of several individuals, some of legal age and some protected under Young Offenders Act. These crooks were caught in possession of take note, "PROHIBITED" firearms. Sub-machineguns and Auto Pistols. Chances are, they will get 1-5 years, some first time offenders, probation. Unknown to many, one of them was the victims sister, caught in possession of one of an SMG.
Her mother was viciously attacking the government for not doing something to get rid of illegal guns in Toronto. And yet her daughter was caught with one hell of a gun.
If the govt is sincere in curbing gun violence, then amend the LAW.
Possession of any unlicensed firearm should get a minimum of 10 yrs, no parole.
If the gun is used in crime, minimum 20 yrs no parole.
If murder or homicide is involved, LIFE with no chance of parole.
WE, RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS, FOLLOW RULES. WE ARE NOT THE ONES CAUSING THESE PROBLEMS.
