The SFC Head Office has just sent out the following email regarding national Team Selection. The email was only sent to people who attended the Nationals, but it is of interest to the membership at large.
I'll leave it to you to form your opinion of these actions and how they could have been avoided. The SFC AGM is taking place in just over two weeks.
National Championships Participants:
Due to the delayed posting of team selection criteria and other irregularities, the 2008 National and SFC teams in the rifle, pistol and skeet disciplines will be determined as follows:
1) National Team will consist of the top 15 Canadians in accordance with the World Ranking List (and calculated with field size taken into account) as posted on the ISSF website on October 31, 2007.
2) SFC Teams in rifle and pistol will be selected based on the numbers identified in the respective 2007 discipline criteria as posted in AIM magazine issue #67.
3) SFC Teams in skeet will be selected based on the 2007 discipline criteria and numbers identified in the 2007 National Championships program.
4) SFC Teams in trap shooting and the National Disabled Team will be selected based on the posted criteria for 2008.
The SFC will announce the athletes named to the 2008 program prior to the Annual General Meeting of the Shooting Federation of Canada September 29, 2007.
Thank you for your consideration.
